- Chose Spanish names from the Goldenrod sheet!
- Here is a link to that sheet if you did not get one!
- We chose names so we can use these cognates, or the Spanish equivalents of our given names, to keep speaking in Spanish whenever we can!
- We learned the ¡aplausos de atención!
- The 5 clap rhythm = hands free, mouths closed, eyes on me, and brain ready to listen!
- We INTRODUCED OUR PARTNERS!
- We paired up with someone we didn't know well, and introduced the other person:

- Created equity cards with our Spanish names
- Every student wrote the SPANISH name he or she chose for himself on a white piece of paper.
- Then, every student wrote his or her SPANISH first name and his or her last name on a colored note card for Ms. Williams
- Turned in the SOBRE TODO YO Survey.
- Every student answered questions about him or herself, his or her interests, and let Ms. Williams know a little bit about him or herself.
- We finished INTRODUCING OUR PARTNERS!
- We paired up with someone we didn't know well, and introduced the other person:

- DAY 1: VERB BOOT CAMP!
- PARTE A: Know your verbs
- Wait, what’s a verb again?
- A verb is an action word OR being word!
- Examples: to run, jumping, ate, OR was/is/were/are
- How do we KNOW which words are verbs?
- IN ENGLISH: Many verbs end with -ing, -ed in the past tense, or start with “to ____________”. They’re the words that usually come up after the subject, or person of the sentence.
- What are the last TWO LETTERS at the end of verbs in Spanish?
- The last two letters are: -AR, -ER, and -IR.
- Then, let’s brainstorm!
- On Poster Post-its:
- PARTE B: BRAINSTORM which verbs you remember from last year:

- PARTE A:

- REMEMBER, all of these verbs are in the __infinitive__ form*; they end with _-AR, _-ER, or _-IR.
- *It’s called the __infinitive__ form because we can conjugate INFINITE ways from this form!
- PARTE B: WHY AND HOW DO VERBS CHANGE?
- We watched this video to help define infinitive verbs and conjugation for us!
- INFINITIVE verb: the __original__ form of a verb before you __conjugate__ it. --> __EXAMPLES: "to eat," "to sleep" or "to talk"__
- CONJUGATION: is when you take a verb and put it in __different____ forms, depending on the subject. You take the infinitive of a verb, and put it in different forms.
- The infinitive form of an English verb is _to__ + the _verb_____.
- Examples of how verbs change IN ENGLISH:
- Every day, I _dance__, you _dance_, he _dances_, she _dances_.
- Every day, I __swim__, you __swim___, he __swims_____, she __swims______.
- Every day, I __talk_____, you __talk_____, he __talks_____, she ___talks________.
- THE RULE: In ENGLISH, we change verbs by adding an “_-s_” to the ENDING of the ___he___ and __she_ forms of the verb.
- In Spanish, we change the endings of the verb, too! Check it out:
- Examples of how verbs change IN SPANISH:
- Cada día, yo _bailo__, tú _bailas, él _baila , ella _baila_.
- Cada día, yo _miro__, tú _miras, él _mira , ella _mira_.
- Cada día, yo __hablo____, tú ___hablas_____, él ___habla___, ella ___habla______.
